Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Nerežišća

The parish Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Nerežišća is protected cultural property listed as Z-4454. Its present monumental Baroque form largely dates to around the mid-eighteenth century and is associated with the builder Ignacije Macanović. Constructed of dressed stone, it has three aisles and a shallow rectangular presbytery; the central aisle has a barrel vault, while the side aisles and sanctuary have groin vaults. A four-storey bell tower rises beside the church, and the interior contains a series of altars and valuable paintings. Its 1753 organ by Petar Nakić is a particular highlight. The church is an essential stop when exploring old Nerežišća.
