The monastic and parish Church of St Roch forms part of Virovitica’s Franciscan complex and ranks among Croatia’s most notable Baroque ensembles. Built between 1746 and 1752, its lavish interior brings together 18th-century altars, sculptures, paintings, pulpit and church furnishings. The high altar was completed in the late 1760s and features Josef Gobler’s painting Saint Roch in Glory, accompanied by sculptures by Josef Holtzinger. The richly decorated pulpit of 1755 is another major highlight. Next door, the Franciscan monastery preserves collections of paintings and sculpture, a valuable library and objects from the former Franciscan pharmacy.
