The Church of Saints Eusebius and Polion is a prominent Baroque parish church in central Vinkovci. Construction of the present Great Church began in 1771; it was originally dedicated to St John of Nepomuk, while its present patrons were adopted in 1972. Three bells and a valuable painting of the Blessed Virgin Mary were transferred here from the earlier church at Meraja. The dedication recalls Eusebius, bishop of Roman Cibalae who was martyred in 258, and the lector Polion, another martyr from the Roman era. Damaged heavily in the Croatian War of Independence, the church was subsequently largely restored.
