Odescalchi Castle rises in Ilok’s medieval core on the foundations of the 15th-century court of Nicholas of Ilok. After the Odescalchi family acquired the Ilok estate in 1697, the building was repeatedly remodelled, reaching its present form in 1889. Historic Ilok wine cellars lie beneath it, while the restored castle houses the Ilok Town Museum. Its displays cover archaeology, the Middle Ages, ethnography and art, including a section on the Odescalchi family. A visit is an ideal continuation of a walk through the fortified historic centre.
