About
The Church of St George the Great Martyr stands at Mitrovićeva 8a in Bobota and is protected immovable cultural property, listed in Croatia’s register as Z-1140. It belongs to the sacred heritage of the Municipality of Trpinja and remains an important church for the local Serbian Orthodox community. Since 2001, the Croatian Conservation Institute has carried out work on its iconostasis. One restored object is an 18th-century altar cross by Jovan Isailović the Younger: this trefoil, carved and gilded wooden cross shows the Crucifixion on its front and the Virgin Mary on its reverse. Conservation included cleaning, stabilisation, retouching and reconstruction of damaged parts.
