About
St Nicholas Church in Mirkovci is dedicated to the Translation of the Relics of St Nicholas. The present Serbian Orthodox church was built between 1804 and 1813 by master builder Mihael Majzinger and his assistant Jozef Bretnik. Its single nave measures 27 by 12 metres, while a 28-metre bell tower contains four bells. A large churchyard, screened from the main street by an old wrought-iron fence, gives the complex a strong presence in the village. The building was restored in 1912, 1975 and 1993, and remains one of Mirkovci’s principal sacred landmarks.
