About
St Joseph the Worker Church occupies a leafy hollow beside the Dubravica stream, between Gornji Stenjevec and Gajnice. When the community was being formed, permission to build a church in the housing estate could not be obtained. In 1977, a former manor farm building—its stable and hayloft—was therefore converted: one part became a chapel, while another housed the parish residence and office. Cardinal Franjo Kuharić blessed the chapel on 18 December 1977, and the parish became independent in 1978. The building’s unusual origins and park-like setting give it a distinctive character. Visitors may attend services according to the parish’s regular timetable.
