Ružica grad

Ružica grad occupies a wooded ridge between the northern slopes of Papuk and Krndija, south of Duzluk village and close to Orahovica. Covering about 8,000 square metres, it is among Croatia’s largest medieval fortification complexes, with Gothic and Renaissance building phases visible in its remains. Its position at 378 metres above sea level was mainly approachable from the south and gave it control of the surrounding terrain. The Ružica grad educational trail leads through woodland to the ruins, making this a rewarding stop for walkers who wish to combine heritage with a short excursion in Papuk Nature Park.
