Esterhazy castle in Darda

Esterházy Castle in Darda is a three-winged Baroque and Neoclassical residence by Lake Đola, shaped during the 18th and early 19th centuries.

About

Esterházy Castle occupies Darda’s south-western edge, within parkland beside Lake Đola. Its U-shaped plan developed when a main wing linked two older side wings, creating an inner courtyard that once opened towards the estate’s economic zone. The east façade faces the settlement and is approached through an imposing Art Nouveau garden gateway and a 19th-century English-style park. The complex took shape in several building phases associated with the Veterani and Esterházy families. The castle belongs to the Municipality of Darda, is listed as protected cultural property Z-1629, and currently has no designated use. The exterior, park and spatial layout are its defining features.
