St Elijah’s Church stands on Sutilija Hill, on the site of an old Illyrian hillfort and burial mound. It is thought to be medieval, although its exact construction date is unknown. This plain stone church is 6.85 metres long and 5.20 metres wide, with a small semicircular apse and a stone-slab roof. Its surrounding ground was once a cemetery that remained in use into the 19th century. Before the enlargement of the Church of Our Lady of Konacvine in 1582, St Elijah’s served as the parish church. Reaching it involves an uphill walk on Sutilija; the feast of St Elijah is traditionally celebrated here in July.
