Peovica, or Mirabela, rises directly above Omiš's historic centre and the mouth of the Cetina. The castle follows the steep terrain across six levels, with its tall upper tower the best-preserved element of the medieval defensive complex. Its position allowed control of the town, river and approaches from the sea, making it central to the story of the Omiš commune and its pirate tradition. Reaching the entrance involves a steep stair climb from the old town, so visitors should expect an ascent. The reward is a broad view across Omiš rooftops, the Cetina gorge and the coast, making Peovica especially appealing to travellers who want history and panorama in one stop.
