Rižinice lies in Rupotina beside the Ilija stream, next to the road linking Solin and Klis. Excavations have revealed the remains of a church and monastic buildings built over a Roman rural villa, together with Roman sarcophagi and graves showing the site’s long continuity of use. Its key find is a fragment of an altar-screen gable inscribed “PRO DUCE TREPIM(ero),” naming Duke Trpimir. Local and museum interpretation identifies it as the place where Trpimir founded a Benedictine monastery around 852. It is especially compelling for visitors interested in early Croatian history; check current access conditions along the road before visiting.
