The Church of St Nicholas, also known as St Mikula, stands in the Glavice area on the hill between Sumartin and Selca. This single-nave pre-Romanesque church from the 10th century is an important example of early medieval sacred architecture on Brač. It has a square apse that becomes a conch inside, while a dome rises over the centre of the barrel vault between two transverse bands. Built of rough stone, it has a pitched roof of stone slabs and a square drum with a hipped roof. The church is listed in Croatia’s Register of Cultural Goods. Quarrying began nearby at the St Mikula quarry in the early 18th century.
