Blitvenica Lighthouse stands on the isolated Blitvenica islet, southwest of Žirje at the western edge of the Šibenik archipelago. Built in 1872, it was established to support safe navigation on the open Adriatic. The white stone lighthouse building and tower rise above the bare islet, creating a distinctive sight from the sea. Its offshore setting makes it unsuitable for an independent land-based visit; it is most often seen from a boat passing through the Šibenik waters. Above all, it remains a maritime signal station whose character is inseparable from sea, rock and distant horizon.
