The Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary stands at Jordanovac, east of Zagreb's broader city centre. The parish was founded in 1961 and entrusted to the Jesuits; before the present church was built, worship took place in St Joseph's Chapel within the Jesuit college. Construction of the new church took place in 1994 and 1995, and Cardinal Josip Bozanić, Archbishop of Zagreb, consecrated it in 2004. The 2020 earthquake caused minor damage to the church, while the neighbouring college suffered more seriously. This remains an active parish rather than a conventional visitor attraction, making it most suitable for a brief look at modern sacred architecture and the continuing Jesuit presence in Zagreb.
