Vinica Vára

Stari grad Vinica stands on Vinica Breg above the lowland settlement of Vinica and is protected as archaeological site Z-6191. It was first recorded as a castrum in 1353 and changed hands during the 15th and 16th centuries. After a fire in 1555, the fortress was rebuilt and is thought to have acquired its final Renaissance form at that time. It had already been abandoned as a ruin by the end of the 17th century. Visitors encounter the remains of a pentagonal burg, its walls and a northern semi-tower; research has also identified a residential floor with a fireplace niche and window benches.
