Crkva sv. Ivana Krstitelja u Sv. Ivanu Žabno

The Parish Church of St John the Baptist stands at the heart of Sveti Ivan Žabno, a settlement about 11 km southeast of Križevci. It was recorded in the 1334 list of Zagreb Diocese parishes, while scholarly research traces its building history from its first mentions in the early 14th century. Archaeological evidence suggests that Roman structures once occupied the site. The church was renovated in 1633–34 and again in the mid-18th century, when it acquired Baroque-Classical features. Its most extensive late-19th-century rebuilding reshaped the eastern section and gave the building its present Latin-cross plan. The patronal feast on 24 June is also observed as the day of both the parish and municipality.
