Kerestinec Castle
About
Kerestinec Castle, also called Erdődy Castle, was begun by Petar Erdődy around 1575 after he left Okić. The original Renaissance castle had an arcaded inner courtyard and four round corner towers; two were destroyed in the 1880 earthquake. Eighteenth-century alterations added Baroque layers, while a landscaped park was created in the 19th century. Following a multi-year full restoration completed in 2026, the castle gained cultural and community uses, including facilities for a local-history collection, library, music school and exhibitions. It offers visitors a rare chance to encounter a historic castle returned to public life.
