St. Rocco Chapel, Sveta Nedelja

chapel in Sveta Nedelja, Zagreb County, Croatia

About

St Rocco Chapel in Sveta Nedelja was first recorded in 1668, when it was still wooden. The present 1728 masonry chapel is a Baroque, single-nave building with a rectangular plan and sanctuary, and a small bell tower above its façade; shallow white pilasters articulate the exterior. Its interior is defined by the large 1751 Baroque altar of St Rocco, which fills the sanctuary wall, as well as a pulpit and a historic positive organ by Anton Scholz. The chapel is the setting for the St Rocco feast on 16 August. It stands on Svetonedeljska Street and will especially appeal to visitors interested in Baroque sacred art.
