Holy Trinity church in Rovišće

The Church of the Holy Trinity stands in Rovišće, the municipal centre about 12 kilometres northwest of Bjelovar. The church and parish were first recorded in 1334 in the list of parishes compiled by the Gorica archdeacon Ivan, when the settlement was known as Ruuicha. In the late Middle Ages it had a parish priest and chaplains, but incursions in the sixteenth century interrupted parish life for a long period. The parish was restored in 1789, the same year associated with the church’s restoration in an encyclopaedia entry. It remains a focal point of the historic settlement centre and a suitable stop when exploring the sacred heritage around Bjelovar.
