About
Gajna is a protected landscape in the Sava floodplain between Oprisavci and Poljanci, lying between the river and its flood-defence embankment. Its pastures developed when woodland was cleared for cattle grazing, and grazing still maintains their open character today. The area supports Croatian native breeds: Slavonian-Syrmian Podolian cattle, Black Slavonian pigs, and Posavina horses. This combination of grassland, livestock, and floodplain habitat gives Gajna its distinctive Posavina character. It can be reached on foot from central Oprisavci in roughly ten to fifteen minutes. Visitors should follow the site rules and avoid disturbing the animals or the natural environment.
