The Church of the Nativity of St John the Baptist stands in Ivankovo, a Slavonian settlement near Vinkovci. The parish, together with the cemetery church of St Elijah, is recorded in 1334, while the church dedicated to St John the Baptist dates from the 14th century. After destruction during the Ottoman period, the parish was re-established in 1708. It is a single-nave building with a narrower, lower polygonal sanctuary supported by buttresses, making its medieval form especially legible from outside. It is a worthwhile stop for visitors interested in sacred heritage and Ivankovo’s older history.
