About
St Peter’s Church occupies a separate hill above Gotalovec in the north-east of Krapina-Zagorje County. It was first recorded in 1639 as the court chapel of Gotalovec Castle, where the Gotal family had its burial place. The building retains a Gothic nave and a narrower, square-ended sanctuary dating to the 15th century; alterations from the 16th or 17th century to the mid-18th century gave it its present Baroque character. Besides the rectangular nave and sanctuary, it includes the former polygonal burial chapel of the Gotal family. The church is protected as an individual immovable cultural property under registration number Z-3514.
