Šincekova jama

Šincekova jama, also known as Vinica Cave, is a protected archaeological site near Marčan with evidence of fauna and human occupation.

About

Šincekova jama lies near Marčan, on the western slopes of Abrahamov Breg above a stream flowing towards the Plitvica valley, around ten kilometres west of Varaždin. Also called Vinica Cave, it is listed as protected terrestrial archaeological heritage under register number Z-5741. Before systematic research, it consisted of a narrow passage about six metres long ending in a small round chamber. Investigations recovered Pleistocene and Holocene animal remains, pottery, stone tools, flakes and traces of hearths. It is a site of archaeological and prehistoric interest rather than a developed show cave for casual visits.
