Crkva Sedam žalosti Blažene Djevice Marije u Prepolnu

The Church of the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Prepolno is a fully vaulted Baroque church built in 1807. A bell tower rises above the principal façade, while the interior’s key feature is the monumental Late Baroque high altar filling the apse’s rear wall. Sculptor Franz Anton Straub made the altar in 1764; its figures are gently animated and finely modelled. An altar of St Barbara, made by an unidentified master in 1791, stands against the triumphal arch. The pulpit also comes from an unidentified workshop of the late eighteenth century. Listed as protected individual cultural heritage under register number Z-1878, the church is a notable stop for visitors interested in Baroque sacred art.
