The Chapel of St Lawrence stands on Narodni trg as part of Split's Old Town Hall complex. It was constructed as a bridge-like link between the town hall and a neighbouring palace, with its principal medieval form associated with the 15th century while the wider complex changed over time. The chapel and town hall are protected cultural heritage. Its unusual position above a passage is what makes it memorable: sacred space is literally inserted into the dense civic architecture of Pjaca. It is best viewed from outside together with the arches and town hall façade, offering a brief but rewarding stop for visitors interested in medieval urban design.
