The Church of Our Lady of Spinut, dedicated to the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, lies below the northern slopes of Marjan. Written references reach back to the 11th century, while traces at the site point to an even earlier sacred phase. The church now stands in a quieter part of the city, away from the main visitor concentration around Diocletian's Palace. It is most naturally combined with a walk through Spinut and the northern side of Marjan. The modest stone church is worth noticing for its relationship with the surrounding landscape and for what the site reveals about the early spread of Christian sacred places beyond Split's historic core.
