About
The Church of Our Lady of Jerusalem stands on Trški Vrh above Krapina and is a distinguished work of the Zagorje Baroque. Building began in 1750 and the church was completed and consecrated in 1761, prompted by devotion to a small Marian statue brought from Jerusalem in 1669. Its articulated late-Baroque façade and bell tower are enclosed by a vaulted portico resting on fifty stone columns. Inside are Anton Lerchinger’s wall paintings from 1772 and the high altar of 1759, made by Philipp Jacob Straub. The church is at Trški Vrh 88; arranging a visit with the parish in advance is advisable.
